WAS THE GOSPEL ACCORDING TO JOHN WRITTEN BY JOHN THE APOSTLE?

Jerome, in his book “De Viris Illustribus”, chapter 9, wrote the following:

“John, the apostle whom Jesus most loved, the son of Zebedee and brother of James, the apostle whom Herod, after our Lord's passion, beheaded, most recently of all the evangelists wrote a Gospel, at the request of the bishops of Asia, against Cerinthus and other heretics and especially against the then growing dogma of the Ebionites, who assert that Christ did not exist before Mary. By whom he was compelled to proclaim His divine nativity.”

In this same chapter, continuing to speak about John, Jerome wrote the following:

“He wrote also one Epistle which begins as follows “That which was from the beginning, that which we have heard, that which we have seen with our eyes and our hands handled concerning the word of life” which is approved by all the ecclesiastics and scholars. And the remaining two, of which the beginning is “The elder to the elect lady and her children” and of the following “The elder unto Gaius the beloved whom I love in truth”, are ascribed to John the Elder (or John the Presbyter), of whom until today another sepulchre at Ephesus is shown, although some think that there are two memorials of the same John the Evangelist. We shall treat of this matter in its turn when we come to Papias his disciple.”

Therefore, we see that, in reality, who wrote the books of the New Testament attributed to John the apostle was another man, called John the Elder (or John the Presbyter), that some confused with John the Apostle.

Moreover, by the mentioned passages of the book “De Viris Illustribus”, of Jerome, we also see that that other man, called John the Elder (or John the Presbyter), wrote the Gospel according to John upon request of the bishops of Asia, with the purpose of fighting the doctrine of the Ebionites, that says that Jesus Christ is not God, and this explains why the author of the Gospel according to John seeks to say that Jesus Christ is God.

Therefore, we see that, in reality, the Gospel according to John was not written by John the Apostle, and was written upon request of the Catholic bishops, with the purpose of defending the false doctrine of the divinity of Jesus Christ.

The doctrine of the divinity of Jesus Christ is false, because the true followers of Jesus Christ, who were the Ebionites, did not believe that Jesus Christ is God, nor that he was born of a virgin, and also because it is totally absurd to say that a man is God, because God is the Creator of all the things and the man is a creature, and it is totally impossible the Creator to be the creature and also it is totally impossible the creature to be the Creator. That is a logical impossibility. On this subject, it sees the following web page: http://www.servosdejave.org.br/is_jesus_god.htm .

This explains why the Gospel according to John is very different from the other three gospels, the according to Matthew, the according to Mark and the according to Lucas.

The first three gospels are called synoptic gospels, because they have many similarities between them, to the contrary of the Gospel according to John, which is very different from the other three.

The Gospel according to John presents a history of Jesus very different from that which is presented by the three first gospels.

See some of the differences between the Gospel according to John and the other three gospels:

1) Only in the Gospel according to John appears the passage that says that in the beginning was the Word, and that the Word was with God, and that the Word was God, and that the Word was made flesh and dwelt among us (John 1:1-14). In the other three gospels there is not this passage. Be noted that this passage presents a falsified version of the origin of the universe, that contradicts the authentic version, that is in Genesis 1:1, where it is written: “In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth”.

2) Only in the Gospel according to John is reported the miracle of the transformation of the water into wine. In the other three gospels this miracle is not reported. This miracle, in case that it really had occurred, would be too much great to be omitted by the other three evangelists. This shows that the author of the Gospel according to John tried to increase the number of the miracles, in order to defend the false doctrine that says that Jesus Christ is God.

3) Only in the Gospel according to John is reported the miracle of the resurrection of Lazarus, four days after its death.

4) In the Gospel according to John is found the narrative of the last supper, but there it is not reported that in the last supper Jesus has said that the bread was his body and that the wine was his blood, as is reported in the other three gospels, and this, in case that it really had occurred, would be too much important to be omitted by the author of the Gospel according to John.

5) In the Gospel according to John is reported that in the last supper Jesus washed the feet of his disciples, and this is not reported in the other three gospels, and this, in case that it really had occurred, would be too much important to be omitted by the other three evangelists.

All those things prove that the Gospel according to John was not written by John the Apostle.

The Gospel according to John is not part of the true Bible, that is the Bible of the Ebionites, that is composed by the books of the Old Testament (Tanach).

And the Gospel according to John does not contain the true history of Jesus Christ, because the true history of Jesus Christ is in the gospel that was used by the Ebionites, which was written in Hebrew, and does not contain all the passages that are in the Gospel according to Matthew in Greek that is used by the Catholics and the Protestants, or Evangelicals.
